The green dots you see beside your profile on each post is the amount of reputation/reputation power each individual member has.
Reputation is a little like PageRank. The longer, most respected & valued members of the communities will have larger reps unlike someone new to the forum as they need to start & build bridges to get noticed.
Users vote for other user's reputation (by clicking on the scale), and it's weighted by how "important" they are within the forum. It works like this right now:
Everyone starts with a reputation of 10
You can alter other people's reputation by 1 point by default
For every 150 days after you register, your altering power increases by 1
For every 200 posts, your altering power also increases by 1
For every 100 reputation points that other's give you, your altering power increased by 1
User must have at least 50 posts before they can affect other's reputation
You must have a reputation of 10 or higher to be able to affect others (it's 10 by default)
You can alter up to 20 user's reputations per day
You must alter different user's reputations before you can alter the same user's again. (Up to 5 members)There standard numbers which i know ******** has changed a few but its a general guideline.

If you make good post, you get + rep, if you make bad post, you gave negative rep and then eventually banned! :D:D:D:D

Negative rep alone will not get you banned, only if you disobey the rules.
