2 great ways to get backlinks and traffic

November 30th, 2007

1. Social Bookmarking

Social bookmarking is a great way of generating traffic and buzz to your website. Using services such as Onlywire and SocialPoster allows you to bookmark your website in multiple bookmarking sites all at once, which saves time and makes it easyer so your not bookmarking individually.

Social bookmarking builds backlinks aswell as brings traffic, services such as Digg can bring you huge ammounts of traffic if you have a site or blog post worth linking to which is usefull or funny or breaks news. I’v had my sites on the front page of Digg many times though out the past 6 months and everytime I’v had well over 30,000 uniques within 24 hours and useually around 5,000 every week for atleast a month after its been on the main page, it also gives many backlinks useusally around pr0-pr2 but can sometimes be higher since every member of Digg who Diggs your site is also backlinking to your site form there profile page and since Digg updates every few seconds Google is allways constantly on the site and will index your site very quickly.

Stumbleupon is also very good for traffic allthough not very good for decent ad clicking traffic, the users only stay on your site for around 2-3 minutes sometimes only a matter of seconds if the article, video or image doesnt attract there attention, again this builds pr0-pr6 backlinks useually averages around pr2.

2. Create a free wordpress, phpbb or CSS template and add your link to the footer

Creating a template which can be downloaded free of charge is a great way of building backlinks. If you build a free wordpress template remember to make it clean and attractive aswell as widget and adsence ready. You can submit your free wordpress template to the many free wordpress download sites which will improve downloads also remember to post the release around forums such as DigitalPoint and in our very own BzImage forum.

With releasing a wordpress theme you can add atleast 3 links to the footer useually designed by: example link, partners: example link and example link

By releasing a free theme or website template you will get free links in the footer of any website that uses that theme or template.

Be Careful On Digitalpoint

November 20th, 2007

After the recent pr update and seeing how a few but not all of my sites dropped from Pr6s down to pr5 and even pr4s I began to wonder how this could be possible!

So after much thinking about it I have determined that the only thing different I did between the sites was the ones that dropped were listed openly on Digitalpoint for link exchanges, I should have know that right away that would have sparked Google’s interest!

So my biggest delight is to tell you to not list them publicly, do it through PM or email!

Thanks

Search engines, What are they really

July 27th, 2007

Search engines have the main purpose to index thousands of millions of web pages. If you look for a word or phrase, they scan the whole database where stored pages are indexed and finally return to you a list of what they cosider the most relevant results for that search.

Search engines made their appearance in the early 90’s when Alan Emtage, a student at Montreal’s McGill University created the first kind of them. He called it Archie and its purpose was to search through the information available on the FTP servers. In fact, files on FTP servers were publically available , but to use them people had to know the exact address of the server and of the file. Archie looked through this database and gathered lists of files for each server.

Archie is now a very old remembrance, but its creation was for surev the first step in search engines’ adventure.

With the mass- diffusion of the net, search engines became a real need.

As a consequence, they born some software robots, which, spidering the web, following links from one site to the other, used to save text from all visited websites in a database.

Between 1994 and 1995 three important search engines appeared: Lycos, WebCrawler and AltaVista. At about the same time Yahoo! appeared too.

Today search engines are in a continuous competition. There are plenty of them, but just a few big ones which are responsible for more than 90% of online searches.

But the question arises: if search engines are free and publically available what keeps them financially alive? The answer is very simple: advertising and traffic. The more visits they have, the bigger the traffic they have and the much more money they make providing advertising spaces.

Moreover, today search engines are competing to find and use the best formulas and algorithms to evaluate web pages in accord to the search keywords.

People looking for a top position in search engines, use an always increasind attention to project and develop sites which can be easily spidered by search engines, being relevant for the keywords and phrases the owner wants it to be found by.

Moreover, there’re daily discussion about the relevance of a catchy domain name in search engines indexing. Nowadays domain names is a daily increasing business, as much as there are a lot of sites dealing exclusively with it.

If you want an example about it, you can visit The BraveDomainer’s Blog a free blog providing daily lists of expired domain names, news and tutorials.
