PageRank is closely connected with traffic, I think. If you are # 1 or 2 or 3. visitors will go to your page first.

It still depends on your decision on what you want to ranked up first whether your PR rank, SERP rank or number of visitors of your site. PR is important in a way that it is considered as an important page and take note not only those main pages can have PR but also those inner pages of your site. PR is important too and have their value especially if you build links to those sites who have high PR ranks.

I always look for High SERP's not Page Rank. SERP's help you to get high traffic but Page Rank cannot give you traffic.

Make your goal getting more traffic. A higher page rank can be used as a loose indicator that your link-building efforts are working but it won't give you a good measure of increased sales performance for example.

if you are in business of selling links then yes go for pr but if you wish to earn via adsense or any such program, serps matter the most!

Generally speaking, PR is only a light weight factor for SERP. But, a higher PR site would be looked more reliable for visitors, IMO.
